Pack your bags for six days filled with all things baseball! Sports Travel and Tours is headed to the central United States for its Windy City Plus tour from Friday, Aug. 7 to Wednesday, Aug. 12. The trip will feature four games at four different ballparks in Milwaukee, St. Louis and, of course, the Windy City, Chicago.
The trip’s itinerary begins on Friday with the trip reception that allows our participants to begin making connections with one another. Travelers will be able to meet and greet each other as well as their tour guide. The following afternoon features a tour of Wrigleyville, one of Chicago’s most unique neighborhoods, and the first baseball game of the trip. The Chicago Cubs will take on the San Francisco Giants at their own historic Wrigley Field.
Sunday will be spent in Milwaukee. Travelers will get to watch the Brewers take on the St. Louis Cardinals at Miller Park. After the game, they’ll return to Chicago, where on Monday, travelers will experience a stadium tour of Wrigley Field. Participants will get an insider’s look at more than 97 years of history. Tour destinations include the press box, clubhouses, dugouts and possibly the field itself.
Also on Monday—a day packed full of sites and experiences—will be a half-day tour of Chicago and a game at U.S. Cellular Field, where the White Sox will play against the LA Angels of Anaheim.
Tuesday morning, travelers will leave Chicago for St. Louis. There, they will have the opportunity to see the iconic St. Louis Gateway Arch, our nation’s tallest monument at 630 feet tall. Later in the evening, travelers will witness the last game of the trip at Busch Stadium. For the second time, they will watch the Cardinals play, this time on their home field against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Participants will return home at their leisure on Wednesday.
Sixty-year-old Sally Ryen of Davis, California, will be one of the travelers on the Windy City Plus trip. Having enjoyed her time spent on a previous visit to Chicago with her late husband, Doug, Sally says she chose the trip mainly for its focus on the Chicago area.
“I wanted to go to Chicago and see the White Sox and the Cubs,” she says. “I was trying to figure out how to plan out a trip on my own, and I thought of Sports Travel and Tours. So I picked the Windy City trip.”
Sally, a devoted San Francisco Giants fan, said she’s especially excited to see the Giants play against the Chicago Cubs on Saturday, Aug. 8. She also looks forward to building relationships with other travelers, which she suspects will make traveling by herself a bit easier.
“When you go to a baseball game, everybody’s there for the same reason, so conversation comes easily,” Sally says. “I’m certain that in this group of strangers, some of them will become my friends.”
