***17th February 2021: The University of Illinois along with local organisers have today announced that this year's Aer Lingus College Football Classic game between Illinois and Nebraska, scheduled for Saturday 28th August, will not be played at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland. The game will instead take place at Memorial Stadium in Champaign, USA***
Cheer for Illinois or Nebraska as college football comes back to the Emerald Isle at the end of August 2021. You'll visit Dublin, Killarney, Galway, and more on this 8-day excursion that visits great Irish cities, historical sites & attractions and spectacular scenery throughout Ireland!

EventsDay: 1 - Fri, August 27, 2021 Arrive Dublin Arrival at Dublin Airport in the morning. On arrival at Dublin Airport you will make your way to the hotel for a two night stay. Following hotel check in, the remainder of the afternoon is free to rest.
Welcome Reception This evening you will regroup with your fellow travelers and enjoy a welcome reception in your hotel. Reception includes light finger food and one drink (beer, wine or non alcoholic beverage)

Day: 2 - Sat, August 28, 2021 Dublin City Tour This morning you will enjoy a tour of Dublin - Ireland's capital city on the banks of the River Liffey. You will see The Georgian Squares with their 18" Century houses, St. Patrick's Cathedral, the Phoenix Park (biggest town park in Europe), statue filled O'Connell Street and the fashionable Grafton Street. You will also see Trinity College which houses the famous Book of Kells.
Guinness Brewery No visit to Dublin would be complete without a visit to the Guinness Brewery founded in 1759 by Arthur Guinness. Here you will enjoy a self-guided tour which concludes with a leisurely pint of Guinness in the 360-degree roof top bar while enjoying some spectacular views of Dublin city.
Reserved Ticket to Illinois Fighting Illini vs. Nebraska Cornhuskers This afternoon you will walk a short distance from your hotel to the Aviva Stadium for the Illinois vs. Nebraska Football Classic. The original stadium dates to 1872 and has been the home of Irish rugby for many years with the first game being played here between Leinster and Munster in December 1876. The first soccer game was played here in 1971 when Ireland played Italy and since the 1980's it has also been home to the Irish national soccer team. Aviva Stadium

Day: 3 - Sun, August 29, 2021 Blarney & Killarney This morning you depart Dublin and travel through the horse breeding county of Kildare and the rich farmlands of county Tipperary to Cashel where you will visit the amazing Rock of Cashel for a guided tour. This was the seat of the Kings of Munster from 370 - 1101 and was also a famous ecclesiastical center. You continue to Blarney where you will visit Blarney Castle and kiss the famous Blarney Stone, said to bestow the gift of eloquence on all those who dare.
This will be followed by some free time to visit the Blarney Woollen Mills before continuing to Killarney for a two night stay in the Killarney Plaza Hotel. This evening you will enjoy dinner in your hotel.

Day: 4 - Mon, August 30, 2021 Dingle Peninsula Today you will enjoy the unspoiled beauty of The Dingle Peninsula. It was once cited as 'the most beautiful place on earth' by the National Geographic. You will travel back in time as you see some beehive huts (early monastic settlements) dating back over a thousand years. The tour will go to the westerly point of Ireland where you can view The Blasket Islands. You will also see some of the locations for such films as "Ryan's Daughter" and "Far and Away".
Dingle Distillery You will also visit the Dingle Distillery, this artisan distillery was established in 2012 and produces Dingle whiskey, gin and vodka.
Free Time in Dingle You will have some free time in Dingle for lunch on your own before returning to Killarney.

Day: 5 - Tue, August 31, 2021 Cliffs of Moher This morning, you bid farewell to Killarney and travel to Tralee, capital town of County Kerry and famous for The Rose of Tralee Festival. You continue to Tarbert where you board the Shannon Ferry, which crosses the Shannon Estuary to Killimer. From here you take the coast road to the majestic Cliffs of Moher which rises to a height of 600 ft over the Atlantic Ocean. Enjoy some free time to view the cliffs.
Burren & Galway Your tour continues through the lunar type landscape of the Burren, from the Irish word 'bhoireann' meaning, 'a stony place' or 'a rocky place', which is a good description for this 350 sq. kilometers limestone plateau in North Clare. You continue along the shores of Galway Bay to Galway City for a two night stay. Later you will enjoy dinner in your hotel.

Day: 6 - Wed, September 1, 2021 Aran Islands Take a break from the hussle and bustle of the mainland and travel to Rossaveal and board a ferry to Inishmore, the largest of the three Aran Islands. The island is steeped in history with over 50 different monuments of Christian, pre-Christian and Celtic mythological heritage. Join the mini bus tour of the island which will include a stop at the world renowned fort of Dun Aonghasa which stands over a dramatic 300-foot cliff. You will have time to walk to Dun Aonghasa and enjoy the spectacular views.

Day: 7 - Thu, September 2, 2021 Galway City After breakfast, you will have some free time to wander through the charming old cobbled stone streets of Galway City. You will experience the history and appreciate the blend of past and present with modern day shops housed in century old buildings.
Rathbaun Farm In the early afternoon you will travel to Rathbaun Farm. Here you will get a glimpse into the daily workings of a sheep-farm, see the animals, feed the lambs, talk to the family and explore the farmyard. The farm owner Fintan Connelly will also give a demonstration of sheep shearing and sheep herding. You can spend some time in the thatched cottage and smell the turf fire. Before you leave you will enjoy home baked freshly prepared scones, soda bread and tea.
Dublin From Rathbaun Farm you travel across the country and return to the capital city of Dublin where you will check into the Camden Court Hotel for an overnight stay. This evening you will regroup and enjoy dinner in your hotel.

Day: 8 - Fri, September 3, 2021 Depart at leisure from Dublin After breakfast, with fond memories and newly acquired accents and many stories to relate to friends and family depart at your leisure from Dublin Airport (DUB).
