I have had many Sports Travel and Tour Experiences. To begin – 1999 a planned 3 days on the west coast going to 3 games in 3 stadiums. I talked to Christine at Sports Travel and Tours a few times about the three day baseball trip, and Christine took care of every need, every question with such ease. What a great beginning, to feel good about this experience as all the details were covered.
It started with Anaheim, CA for the first night. Sports Travel had an “Umps Eye View” program which travelers were able to meet an umpire from that night’s game. Ted Barrett (Number 65) was at the first night’s reception as all the travelers met for the first time. Ted Barrett talked of his umpiring experiences and his love for the game. Sometimes very funny and always informative and entertaining, Ted Barrett was a great kickoff to a great reception to a great first night of a great baseball vacation.
I don’t remember who won the game, I do remember all the travelers in the 2nd inning calling for Ted (3rd base ump that night), and Ted turning toward us in the seats and smiling and acknowledging us. We moved on to San Diego and Los Angeles on the next days. This was my first trip to the west, so, my eyes were open reallll wide through each moment.
As the first three days past, each of the travelers on the bus became friendlier and more comfortable with each other – which just made the experience even more fun! In Los Angeles, I visited with my cousin, and my cousin went to her first Dodger game ever – and she lived in the LA area.
Dan Wahl (the Sports Travel and Tours Host) was absolutely great. Very organized, very informative, very knowledgeable, and very entertaining. Dan kept all travelers on the bus happy, and the three days with Dan were great fun for every traveler for this experience.
More stories and memories of so many Sports Travel experiences in the future.
