HATFIELD, MASS.— Jam packed with eight baseball games at six ballparks, including the iconic Wrigley Field, Sports Travel and Tours’ Central Express trip is a dream come true for any diehard baseball fan. Get set for 11 days focused on America’s pastime, complete with an exploration of one of the most-visited cities in the country: Chicago, Illinois.
This trip begins on Wednesday, June 8, when travelers will arrive in Chicago and attend a trip reception at Harry Caray’s Restaurant.
For those who only have a week for their sports vacation, Sports Travel and Tours’ Windy City Plus and Four Bagger trips have the answer again in the form of two separate trips that break the Central Express journey into two pieces. Windy City Plus and Four Bagger.
The Windy City Plus trip also commences on Wednesday, June 8, with the Central Express trip, but it concludes on June 12. The Four Bagger trip begins on June 13 and ends on June 18.
On Thursday, travelers on Windy City Plus and Central Express will embark on a half-day city tour before attending a game at U.S. Cellular Field. The Chicago White Sox will play the Washington Nationals starting at 7:10 p.m.
First thing Friday, it’s off to Milwaukee, where travelers will attend a stadium tour of Miller Park before visiting the city’s historic third ward. Known as Milwaukee’s arts and fashion district, the third ward offers a dynamic array of restaurants, spas, theaters, galleries and boutiques all in a historic warehouse setting.
Later in the evening, guests will return to Miller Park to watch the Brewers take on the New York Mets, runners-up in the 2015 World Series, and the following day, they head to Minneapolis for a game between the Minnesota Twins and the Boston Red Sox at Target Field.
The two teams match up again on Sunday, with both games starting at 1:10 p.m., and travelers are given significant leisure time in between. The number one destination in Minneapolis that visitors should explore, according to TripAdvisor, is the Minneapolis Art Institute (Mia), which houses an incredible 89,000 pieces from six continents spanning 20,000 years!
On Monday, travelers head to Kansas City for a game between the 2015 World Series Champion Royals and the Cleveland Indians, starting at 7:15 p.m. at Kauffman Stadium. They will room at the Hampton Inn & Suites, a hotel with all the amenities you’d expect.
On Tuesday, it’s off to St. Louis to check out the Cardinals Hall of Fame and Museum, which boasts one of the largest team-specific collections of artifacts and memorabilia in the world. Cardinals fans will not be disappointed! The experience is made even better with an evening game in which the Cardinals will play the Houston Astros at Busch Stadium.
The two teams will go head-to-head for a second time on Wednesday, though the itinerary also includes an extensive tour of Busch Stadium and a visit to the iconic St. Louis Arch.
After returning to the Windy City on Thursday, travelers will have plenty of leisure time before a tour of historic Wrigley Field on Friday. Also on Friday’s agenda is a chance to explore Wrigleyville, one of the city’s most unique neighborhoods with a continued focus on sports and a game between the Cubs and the Pittsburgh Pirates at Wrigley Field. A day of all things Wrigley!
The Four Bagger trip begins in Kansas City on Monday, June 13, and travelers hit the ground running with a trip reception before heading to a game between the Royals and the Cleveland Indians starting at 7:15 p.m. at Kauffman Stadium. This trip then follows the same itinerary as Central Express.
